South Florida Mini Tummy Tuck Risks
Like all surgical procedures, a mini tummy tuck is associated with certain risks and complications along with its benefits. Becoming aware of these risks will empower you to make the best decisions about your cosmetic health.
All mini tummy tuck patients will experience some degree of postoperative pain and swelling. We will prescribe pain medication to help alleviate this discomfort.
Mini tummy tuck risks include bleeding, delayed healing, allergic reaction to the anesthetic or to the material used for suturing, fluid accumulation, prolonged soreness or numbness, infection, body contour asymmetry and changes in the sensation or health of the skin. Rare complications include nerve damage, blood clots or fat clots and pulmonary complications.
Smokers are at greater risk for most complications. All patients can reduce their risk of complications by reading our page How to Prepare for Your Mini Tummy Tuck.
Some scarring will occur with any surgical procedure. To learn more about the scars associated with a mini tummy tuck, please read our page What About the Scars?
The unexpected challenges that can potentially arise during abdominoplasty are usually short term and correctable. In some cases, a second procedure or a prolonged hospital stay may be necessary.
We are always happy to provide our South Florida Center patients with more information, so please contact us at any time with questions or concerns.
